Animals is a program that started in 2010 that is for the animals of the clients to get food and be loved on as well. You can help individually by donating food, or you can get a group together to help collect pet food.

Meals on Wheels Animeals Program

In 2010, Meals on Wheels began delivering pet food to our clients along with the regular Meals on Wheels meal for their furry companions. It was brought to our attention by a volunteer that many of our clients were forced to share their noontime meal with their pets because in many situations, their financial resources were too tight to purchase pet food.

"The Animeals Program has been a wonderful addition to our program," said Lynn Haynes, Meals on Wheels Executive Director. "It helps the individuals we serve to better care for their beloved pets. Many of the Meals on Wheels' clients are homebound and are living on fixed incomes. They have a hard time buying food for their pets."

How Can Your Group Help?

The Animeals Program creates unique volunteer opportunities to deliver pet food or collect pet food in a Pet Food Drive for groups wishing to help the Meals on Wheels program.

  • Students from the Moore Norman Technology Center Career Exploration class package pet food in smaller bags to ease in delivery.
  • The Career Exploration students from Moore Norman Technology Center volunteered their time during Random Acts of Kindness Week for the Animeals Project by collecting and packaging pet food.
